» 2022-2023 Year A English / February
What Adam lost through one sin, the new Adam, Christ, restored by one righteous act – his death on the cross
Christians are called to renounce all for Christ, to live no longer for themselves but for him
Christianity is not simply patched-up Judaism, but something radically new
Only with Christ do we have power against Satan and the forces of evil in the world and in our lives
As new men in Christ we are to live in a new way, not seeking revenge for every real or imagined insult or slight
Lest Jesus’ disciples be scandalized by his crucifixion, he gave them in his Transfiguration a preview of his future glory
If we seek to save our life in a worldly way, we will lose it; but if we lose our life for Christ’s sake, we will save it
Jesus is the Messiah who came to redeem the world by suffering and dying to atone for our sins
Fearing that everyone would believe in Jesus, the Pharisees demanded a heavenly sign that would discredit him if he failed to perform it
The Ten Commandments show us how sinful we are and drive us to Christ as our Savior who atones for our sins
Christ meets people’s needs, especially when they put their faith in him
One who could neither hear nor speak is cured by Jesus and now cannot stop speaking about what Jesus did for him
We are to reflect the light of Christ to the world and be the salt that seasons it by our words and life
Jesus’ zeal for souls caused him to cancel his day of rest in the desert and instead teach the multitudes many things
For witnessing to God’s truth about marriage John the Baptist was beheaded
